The “My Russia is in Prison” event, organized by the non-profit organization Hope Harbor Society, took place in Miami. More than 50 participants expressed their solidarity. The rally was dedicated to the second anniversary of the arrest of Russian opposition leader Ilya Yashin, who was sentenced to a long prison term for telling the truth about the criminal war with Ukraine. It was also dedicated to Ilya Yashin’s birthday. He was arrested on June 28, 2022, and June 29 is his birthday. He has been in prison for two years and has celebrated his birthdays behind bars.
From June 28 to 30, activists around the world came out in solidarity with Ilya Yashin and in support of all political prisoners in Russia. At the rally, Hope Harbor Society activists read a letter from Ilya Yashin from the colony, which he sent in support of everyone who continues to fight the criminal regime. The protesters also congratulated Ilya Yashin on his birthday and wished him and all political prisoners a speedy release.
